Adopt Me! players were eagerly awaiting the “Blackhole” event, teased by the game’s developers ahead of a new update. However, instead of a new map, they were surprised with day jobs. While jobs are a common feature in roleplaying games, some longtime players were hoping for more substantial changes to the game’s overall map.
Although the update may not have met everyone’s expectations, the incorporation of jobs allows players to earn in-game currency without spending Robux and adds more variety to the gameplay. It was a logical addition considering that many popular games, such as The Sims, have included jobs for characters for years.
While Adopt Me! already offers various activities, such as camping and visiting the hospital with their virtual babies, some players were looking for more exciting experiences. The black hole event teaser captured attention and raised expectations, leading to disappointment when the update didn’t meet those expectations.
Comparisons were made to the significant black hole event in Fortnite in 2019, which resulted in a brand-new map. However, the Adopt Me! update did introduce a new location – a salon – where players can bring their pets. The update also introduced new jobs, such as hairdressers and pizza shop employees. Players can perform tasks to earn bonuses, including making specific types of pizzas for delivery. They can even become the boss of the salon or the pizza place if the role hasn’t already been claimed.
By working jobs in Adopt Me!, players can earn a base rate of $50 of in-game currency per in-game day, in addition to bonuses.
