Unraveling the Mystery of the BG3 Sleeping Man: An Exploration

Complete the Wake Up Art Cullagh mission in Baldur’s Gate 3

During your visit to the Last Light Inn in Baldur’s Gate 3, you may come across a man named Art Cullagh who is sound asleep on the inn’s first floor. However, Art is trapped in a nightmare due to the Shadow Curse and continuously murmurs the name “Thaniel.” If you require assistance in completing the Wake Up Art Cullagh mission, we have you covered!

To wake up Art Cullagh, follow these steps:

  1. Travel to the House of Healing, which is located southwest of the Last Light Inn or north of the Moonrise Tower.
  2. Retrieve the Battered Lute from the House of Healing. This item is crucial for waking up Art Cullagh.
  3. Before leaving, it is advisable to inform Halsin about Art Cullagh’s condition. Halsin is directly connected to Thaniel, the spirit of the cursed lands, and can provide you with additional information. He will also stay by Art Cullagh’s side to protect him.
  4. To safely enter the House of Healing, you will need a Moon Lantern to fend off the shadows. If you don’t have one already, reach out to Isobel. Assist the group of Harpers in ambushing the followers of the Cult of Absolute, and Isobel will provide you with a Moon Lantern as a reward.

By following these steps, you will be able to wake up Art Cullagh and progress further in the game. Good luck!

Embark on a Thrilling Quest in Baldur’s Gate 3: House of Healing

Prepare yourself for an exciting adventure as you enter the House of Healing in Baldur’s Gate 3. In this gripping storyline, you will encounter the skilled surgeon, Malus Thorm, performing a live surgery with a team of nurses. Your mission? Obtain the coveted Battered Lute from Malus in order to awaken Art Cullagh. But be warned, obtaining the lute won’t be easy – Malus won’t part with it without a fight.

While you can choose to defeat Malus head-on, there is another, more intriguing option. You have the chance to persuade Malus to take his own life, presenting a unique challenge that will put your skills to the test. However, if you succeed in passing the skill roll checks, the outcome is extraordinary.

Here are the dialogue choices you need to make to convince Malus:

  • A student, yes. Do please enlighten me.
  • [Investigation] Examine the sisters and their implements. (Intelligence Check: 14)
  • [Persuasion] Why not have them hone their skills on each other? (Charisma Check: 21)
  • [Deception] My magic has blinded me – I see now that Shar is the only path. Show me – I beg of you. (Charisma Check: 21)

If you successfully pass all the skill roll checks, chaos ensues as the nurses turn on each other, and even Malus inflicts a gruesome injury upon himself. Seizing the opportunity, you can now loot their possessions and triumphantly return to the Last Light Inn to awaken Art Cullagh. Upon playing a tune using the Battered Lute, Art Cullagh awakens and shares his incredible journey with you.

However, the quest to remove the Shadow Curse in Baldur’s Gate 3 is far from over. Halsin, the druid, requests your presence at the lakeshore to protect a portal while he attempts to bring back Thaniel.
