In the thrilling world of Baldur’s Gate, your character Astarion must confront their inner demons. To put a stop to the dreaded Rite of Profane Ascension, Astarion must navigate the treacherous Cazador’s Palace, also known as Szarr Palace. This formidable task is no small feat, and simply gaining entry to the palace is a challenge in itself. But fear not, as we have a simple yet effective pathway to aid Astarion’s quest for revenge. Here’s how you can enter Cazador’s Palace in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Locating Szarr Palace in Baldur’s Gate 3
To find the elusive Szarr Palace, head towards the northern end of the Lower City Wall Gates. However, resist the temptation to cross the gates, as the palace is perched high above, not easily accessible. Instead, you’ll need to make use of the city walls to make your way to this hidden vampire stronghold.
Exploring the City Walls in Style
Reaching the city walls in style can be a thrilling adventure filled with athleticism, spellcasting, and careful navigation. While there may not be a straightforward path that avoids trouble, with a bit of skill and the right approach, you and your party can ascend to the breathtaking city walls.
To begin your journey to the palace, make your way to the Lower City Central Wall. From there, head north until you reach the wall itself. As you approach, you’ll notice two NPCs engaged in conversation near a gate, a small staircase, and a raised wooden platform. This platform will serve as your starting point.
Utilize the agility of your characters by having one of them jump onto the platform. From here, it becomes possible to leap onto the city wall. In this initial area, you won’t encounter any restrictions or need to worry about guards. Take this opportunity to ensure all your agile characters join you on the wall.
For even greater mobility, employ the spells at your disposal. Rogues and Wizards can make use of spells like Misty Step or Flight to enhance their movement capabilities. If you have a character like Gale in your party, encourage them to cast Flight and gracefully glide their way to the top.
After gathering everyone on the wall, the next destination is Cazador’s Palace, also known as Szarr Palace on the Baldur’s Gate 3 map. To reach it, simply follow the path north on the wall until you come across guards who are clearly influenced by Szarr. You can try to convince them to let you through, or prepare for a fight.
Once you reach the end of the wall to the north, you arrive at Cazador’s Palace. However, on the map, it is actually labeled as Szarr Palace.
Now that you have arrived, it’s time for Astarion to finally seek his revenge.
Locating Cazador Inside Szarr Palace
Once you are inside Szarr Palace, your objective is to find the vampire king himself. Your first task is to open the Sinister Door, which requires two items: The Kozakuran Dictionary and the Szarr Family Ring.
Obtaining the Kozakuran Dictionary
- Head to the lower floor area of the palace by taking the southern staircase.
- Enter the room with a corpse emitting dark magic.
- Use a mobility spell like Misty Step or Fly to navigate the room safely.
- Search the dresser to find the dictionary.
- Read the dictionary to learn the chant.
Acquiring the Szarr Family Ring
Here are the steps to find the Szarr Family Ring:
- Stay on the same floor where you found the Kozakuran Dictionary.
- Proceed down the hall, sticking to the right side.
- Keep an eye out for a hidden door that appears in the alcove. Remember to stay on the right side of the hall.
- You will be ambushed by an invisible enemy named Godey, who possesses the ring. Use a light source to reveal him.
- Either pass the Deception/Intimidation and Deception/Persuasion speech checks or defeat Godey in combat.
- If you succeed in passing the second speech check, Godey will give you the Szarr Family Ring. However, killing him may be the quickest and most efficient method, in our opinion.
Once you have acquired both essential items, you will gain the ability to unlock the Sinister Door and confront the formidable Cazador himself.
