Baldur’s Gate 3, the immersive RPG, is not just about the main storyline; it offers a plethora of exciting side adventures that allow players to delve deeper into its captivating world. Exploration and interaction with NPCs and objects provide endless fun and surprises. One such intriguing encounter is with the Slack Skinned Head, where you must decide whether to consume or purge its Waking Mind. Let’s dive in to find out the best choice for your Baldur’s Gate 3 experience.
If you are primarily interested in gaining the Githzerai Mind Barrier buff, which grants Advantage on Intelligence saving throws, either option will suffice. However, consuming the mind will slightly alter your companions’ affinity towards you. For example, Astarion will approve, while Shadowheart will disapprove. On the other hand, purging the Waking Mind has no impact on your relationships.
Consuming the mind will unsettle the Githzerai mind, but it won’t significantly affect your gameplay. The Slack-Skinned Head will become unresponsive, allowing you to remove the Waking Mind from the interface and replace it with another.
If delving into the minds of deceased NPCs excites you, you can use items like the Willing, True, or Fresh Mind on the Mind-Archive Interface to gain more insights. However, it is worth noting that only the Waking Mind provides a buff, while others mainly offer additional conversations and lore.
