Diablo 4 Remove Gem: The Ultimate Guide on Extracting Gems from Weapons and Armor

If you want to maximize the potential of your weapons and armor in Diablo 4, utilizing the gems you discover during your adventures is key. While the individual bonuses may not seem significant at first glance, their cumulative impact can greatly enhance your overall power. However, if you wish to replace or remove a gem that you have already socketed, you may be wondering how to go about it. Well, fret not! This article will guide you through the process of unsocketing gems in Diablo 4.

Step-by-Step Guide: Unsocketing Gems in Diablo 4

In Diablo 4, there are two ways to unsocket gems, each with its own merits. The first method involves dismantling or selling the gear piece, which will return the gem to your inventory but remove the gear entirely. However, this is not recommended if you want to keep the gear.

To unsocket gems without losing the gear, you need to reach Level 20 on your character. Once you reach this level, a Priority Quest will unlock, and you’ll need to speak to Kratia in Kyovashad. Kratia is marked on the map with a diamond symbol, making her easy to locate. In her shop, navigate to the Unsocket tab and click on the pliers icon. Then, select the gear piece from which you want to unsocket the gem. It’s a straightforward process, and the best part is that Kratia won’t charge you for unsocketing gems, allowing you to experiment freely.

While unsocketing gems may not be necessary early on when you frequently replace gear, it becomes essential in the late game as you strive to optimize your build.
