Fortnite Map Evolution: Exploring Seasons OG to X through Notable Hotfix Updates

Are you ready to take a trip down memory lane? The Fortnite map has undergone numerous transformations throughout its seasons, but Season OG brings us back to where it all began – the original island. Prepare to reminisce as we explore the changes that have shaped the Fortnite map over time.

Season OG serves as a nostalgic throwback, allowing fans to relive the excitement of Fortnite’s early days. However, it’s important to note that the map is constantly evolving, so everything discussed here is subject to change throughout the season. This applies not only to the map itself but also to the various weapons that have gone through their fair share of wild transformations over the seasons.

Let’s dive into the classic Points of Interest (POIs) that have made a return with the old map:

  • Fatal Fields: A quaint farmstead with limited loot but plenty of barns to take cover in.
  • Flush Factory: A peculiar factory with an abundance of toilets and scarce loot, often overlooked by players.
  • Greasy Grove: A vibrant collection of houses, diners, and gas stations offering decent loot.
  • Haunted Hills: A spooky location with great loot potential for those brave enough to explore.
  • Junk Junction: A junkyard that may be a bit far from the map’s center but rewards players with valuable loot.
  • Lazy Links: A golf course with hidden loot in the bunkers, perfect for golfing enthusiasts.
  • Lonely Lodge: A secluded wooden cabin that may be far from the action but compensates with plentiful loot.
  • Loot Lake: A hotbed for loot, although the presence of water can hinder your movement.
  • Lucky Landing: A location with good loot potential, albeit with less excitement compared to others.
  • Paradise Palms: A bustling area of high-rise apartments that, unfortunately, lacks significant loot for its size.
  • Pleasant Park: A go-to landing spot for many players due to its attractive loot offerings.
  • Retail Row: Another popular destination with fantastic loot potential, often underestimated by others.
  • Risky Reels: An outdoor cinema that surprises players with its hidden loot potential.
  • Salty Springs: A collection of sprouting springs that, regrettably, doesn’t offer much in terms of loot.
  • Shifty Shafts: A multi-level mine where loot awaits around every corner.
  • Snobby Shores: A less popular spot on the map due to its location and limited loot opportunities.
  • Tilted Towers: Undoubtedly the most popular part of the Fortnite map, known for its intense battles and high player activity.
  • Tomato Temple: A maze-like temple with loot scattered everywhere, often overlooked due to its complexity.
  • Wailing Woods: An area dominated by massive trees but lacking in significant loot.

Season OG – Season 6 (V27.00 November 9 hotfix)

During this season, all POIs remained the same, and the map layout didn’t undergo any changes. However, the island over Loot Lake from Season 6 made a return. Additionally, certain weapons were vaulted while others were introduced, keeping players on their toes.

Season OG – Season 7 and 8 (V27.10 November 16 hotfix)

Season 7 introduced significant changes to the Fortnite map. Greasy Grove was eliminated, making way for new POIs in the lower-left corner such as Polar Peak, Frosty Flights, and Happy Hamlet. Risky Reels transformed into Zartbot’s Block. In Season 8, a volcano emerged in the top-right corner, burying Tomato Temple and Risky Reels, which transformed into Sunny Steps. The northwest of the map saw the appearance of The Block, while local flooding turned Lazy Links into the pirate-themed Lazy Lagoon. Additionally, the snowy areas began to recede.

Season OG – Season 9 and X (V27.11 November 23 hotfix)

After a period spent in the bunker, Season 9 brought some notable changes. Neo Tilted and Mega Mall replaced Tilted Towers and Retail Row respectively. The volcano was hollowed out to become Pressure Plant, and Loot Lake almost dried up, unveiling hidden secrets beneath its surface. Season X made only a solitary change by transforming Dusty Divot into Dusty Depot. However, shortly after, a cataclysmic event was unleashed, leading to an entirely new map in the form of Chapter 2.

It’s fascinating to witness the evolution of the Fortnite map as it adapts to the ever-changing gameplay experience. Stay tuned for future updates and be prepared for exciting developments to come!
