How to Release Shadowheart in BG3: A Comprehensive Guide by Daniel Wenerowicz

As you embark on your adventure in Baldur’s Gate 3 aboard the Nautiloid ship, you will have the chance to meet some fascinating origin character companions. One of them is Shadowheart, who unfortunately finds herself trapped. However, fear not! I’m here to guide you through the process of freeing her and forging a valuable friendship.

To release Shadowheart from her confinement in the Nautiloid, you have a couple of options. Firstly, you can locate an Eldritch Rune in the room ahead, which will grant you the power to free her. Alternatively, if you possess a magical class such as the Warlock, you can use your magical abilities to investigate the pod and liberate Shadowheart. Keep in mind that both methods involve engaging in dialogue checks, and there is a possibility of failing these checks. Nonetheless, even if you fail, there is still hope. For instance, during my own playthrough as a fighter, I failed my checks but managed to find the Eldritch Rune through alternate means.

If you’re playing Baldur’s Gate 3 and you want to release Shadowheart from captivity, we’ve got you covered! One of the essential items you’ll need is the Eldritch Rune, which can be found in the room to the right of Shadowheart’s pod. To reach this room, you’ll have to pass through the fleshy hole doors, and you’ll be greeted by the sight of another pod and a dead thrall.

Make sure to loot the thrall’s body and thoroughly search all the chests in the room. To make your looting process easier, you can use the Alt key, which highlights all nearby containers. Once you have the Eldritch Rune in your possession, it’s time to head back to Shadowheart.

Interact with the table on the right side of Shadowheart’s pod, and here’s where things get interesting. To free Shadowheart, you’ll need to pass a dice roll check with the rune or be playing as a Wizard/Warlock class. Succeeding in this check will open the pod and grant Shadowheart her freedom in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to releasing Shadowheart in BG3:

• Head through the fleshy door located to the right of the pod.
• Don’t forget to loot the thrall’s body and any nearby chests.
• Pick up the Eldritch Rune.
• Return to the pod and interact with the table on the right side.
• Pass the dice roll checks to successfully open the pod.

However, don’t worry if you fail the checks and Shadowheart remains trapped. She is encountered again shortly after on the ground, and she appreciates your attempt to rescue her. If you followed Lae’zel’s advice, you may need to offer some explanations or apologies.
