Discovering the Secret Chamber and obtaining the Blood of Lathander in BG3

To find the Blood of Lathander, you must first obtain the Dawnmaster’s Crest and navigate through the underground Creche Y’llek beneath the Rosymorn Monastery. Once you reach the Secret Chamber, you’ll discover the holy mace hidden behind the Inquisitor’s Room. There are two methods to claim the mace from its sacred pedestal.

Begin by accepting the “Find the Blood of Lathander” quest and retrieving the Dawnmaster’s Crest.

Step-by-step guide to acquiring the Dawnmaster’s Crest

When exploring the depths of the Rosymorn Monastery, especially in the vicinity of the magnificent statue near its entrance, you’ll eventually come across a quest called “Find the Blood of Lathander.” This questline will guide you towards uncovering the Secret Chamber and acquiring the legendary weapon. However, before venturing into the Creche Y’llek, it’s crucial to find an incredibly important item within the Rosymorn Monastery. Once you have the necessary preparations, follow these step-by-step instructions to successfully navigate through the Creche Y’llek, gain access to the Secret Chamber, and retrieve the coveted Blood of Lathander:

1) Access the Creche Y’llek located beneath the Rosymorn Monastery

Located in the picturesque mountainous region, on the north side, lies the majestic Rosymorn Monastery. Hidden beneath this peaceful place of worship is the legendary Creche Y’llek, a fortress occupied by the formidable Githyanki warriors. Finding your way into the Creche is an adventure in itself.

To access the Creche, you must first venture through the main entrance of the Monastery. As you approach, a captivating sight of a towering statue awaits you. Turn left from the statue and descend the stairs until you come across a grand doorway.

If, by chance, the main entrance to the Monastery remains elusive, fear not. An alternative entrance can be found by retracing your steps back to the nearby waypoint. Look for a ledge to climb, leading to a boarded-up window on the Monastery’s second floor. Break through the boards and leap inside.

Once you have successfully entered the Creche, be prepared for a fierce encounter with the vigilant Githyanki guards. To gain their trust, you must employ your persuasive skills and convince them that you belong there. If you, like me, embody the strength of a Half-Orc, a bit of intimidation might be just the trick.

Proceed through the central doorway and venture eastward towards a prominent waypoint adorning the wall. Pass by the waypoint and traverse the corridor that leads you into the Captain’s Quarters.

2) Acquire the Gith Shard from Captain Kith’rak Therezzyn

Prepare to be captivated as you step into the captivating Captain’s Quarters, where an exhilarating cutscene unfolds before your eyes. A fearless squad of Githyanki soldiers embarks on a mission to recover the enigmatic artifact that you possess. Keep a close eye on the Captain as she deftly removes a striking red crystal from a panel adjacent to a doorway, triggering a formidable magical barrier. This magnificent spectacle becomes your gateway to the next room, brimming with mystery and excitement.

Now, it’s time to make your move and acquire the precious Gith Shard from the Captain. You have a couple of options here – you can opt for a more confrontational approach, eliminating everyone in the room. However, caution must be exercised, as attracting unwanted attention may complicate matters. Alternatively, you can take a stealthier path and attempt to steal the shard. If you possess an opportunist like Astarion, his nimble fingers make pickpocketing the shard from the Captain’s pocket a viable option.

Once you have acquired the Gith Shard, its true purpose becomes clear. Placing it into the panel flawlessly removes the impenetrable barrier. However, be forewarned – if you have chosen to pilfer the shard from the Captain, an ability check awaits you. Convincing her that you are not the thief she seeks will require skill and finesse.

Step 3: Embark into the Inquisitor’s Chamber and Decipher the Intricate Statue Puzzle

Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey as you venture through the once-obscured door and cross the magnificent bridge. Your destination: the awe-inspiring Inquisitor’s Chamber, where Ch’r’ai W’wargaz eagerly awaits your arrival. But don’t rush to engage in conversation just yet; take a moment to explore the room and head toward the western side.

Behold, two grand archways beckon you, leading to a small room adorned with chests, cabinets, and a pair of striking statues. And beneath each statue lies a plaque, revealing the secrets of their positioning.

  • “Lathander blesses the rising, bountiful sun” – Rotate this statue to face east, where the sun gracefully ascends.
  • “Lathander bids the setting sun a fond farewell” – Guide this statue to face west, where the sun sets majestically.

However, one stubborn statue refuses to budge. To overcome this obstacle, employ your problem-solving skills and either pass a passive strength check with one of your characters or give it a firm whack with a blunt weapon, such as a warhammer.

As the statues align in their rightful positions, an intriguing secret will be unveiled—a hidden passageway. Allow your curiosity to guide you into the depths of the Secret Chamber.

4) Disabling the Secret Chamber Doors

You’re almost there, on the cusp of discovering the sacred Blood of Lathander. But before you can claim your prize, you must confront and disable the intricate security measures within the Secret Chambers. Prepare yourself for a series of three magical barrier doors, each capable of being deactivated by destroying the magic crystals situated nearby. For a closer look, click on the following images:

  • Second Crystal – hidden behind a rocky pathway on the left
  • Third Crystal – situated on the cliffside near the right side of the room

Each room is guarded by magical sentries that are constantly on the lookout for any movement. If you have trap-disarming kits, you can approach them from behind and safely disarm them. Once all the magical barriers are deactivated, you will reach the chamber where the Blood of Lathander is located.

The Blood of Lathander, a legendary mace that holds immense power and possibility. But acquiring such a coveted weapon does not come without its challenges. As you stand on the precipice of obtaining this relic, there are two distinct paths you can take. Let’s delve into each option below, shall we?

Method 1: Placing the Dawnmaster’s Crest in the Socket

The most secure way to acquire the Blood of Lathander is by utilizing the power of the Dawnmaster’s Crest. By inserting this sacred artifact into the designated socket, the security system protecting the Blood of Lathander is deactivated. However, if you have not yet completed the Stained Glass puzzle and retrieved the Dawnmaster’s Crest from the Rosymorn Monastery, we highly recommend referring to our comprehensive guide on obtaining the Dawnmaster’s Crest first.

5b) Obliterate the Lathander Solar Machine

For those who prefer a more thrilling and dangerous approach, option two is the way to go when it comes to obtaining the coveted mace. By bravely snatching the Blood of Lathander from its pedestal, you will awaken a formidable magical construct tasked with obliterating the entire Monastery and everyone within its walls.

If you’re up for the challenge, time is of the essence in this method. As soon as you grab the Blood of Lathander, four crystals located at each corner of the room will activate, initiating a race against the clock. You have a mere four turns of intense combat to demolish these crystals successfully. Be aware that each crystal boasts 30 hit points and can only be harmed with ranged attacks. Another important detail to consider is that the character who possesses the Blood of Lathander will be trapped inside and unable to participate in the battle. Consequently, meticulous planning is vital to ensure the remaining three party members can eliminate the crystals before it’s too late.

6) Seize the Blood of Lathander

If you’re on a quest for power in your favorite RPG, look no further than the legendary mace, the Blood of Lathander. This magnificent weapon may not boast the highest damage, but its unique abilities make it a true game-changer.

  • The Blood of Lathander – Legendary Mace: 5~13 Damage
Lathander’s Blessing: Once per Long Rest, when your hit points reach 0, you’ll automatically regain 2-12 hit points. Not only that, but allies within a 9m radius will also regain 1-6 hit points. Talk about divine intervention!
Lathander’s Light: This mace emits a holy light in a 6m radius. In battle, any fiends or undead creatures within the light become Blinded, unless they succeed a Constitution Saving Throw.
Weapon Enchantment: +3 Sunbeam (Level 6 Evocation Spell) – 6~48 Damage – A beam of radiant light that sears and Blinds all creatures in its path for 10 turns.
Levitating: The Blood of Lathander is not just an ordinary mace – it bestows the power of levitation upon its wielder.

The Blood of Lathander is an invaluable weapon for Clerics like Shadowheart, or any character proficient with maces. I wasted no time equipping it on my Half-Orc Druid and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

It’s worth noting that the Blood of Lathander provides a permanent source of light, which can be incredibly useful. However, in the treacherous Shadow-Cursed Lands, relying solely on its light may not be enough. To survive, you’ll need to learn how to repair the Broken Moon Lantern.
