Should You Free the Brain in Baldur’s Gate 3? Let’s Find Out!
Right from the start of your Baldur’s Gate 3 adventure, you’ll encounter a unique and sentient brain. It might seem like a strange request, but it will beg you to release it from its skull cage. The question is, should you comply? Let’s dive into the options and considerations when deciding whether to free the brain in Baldur’s Gate 3.
As you find yourself waking up on a crashed Mindflayer’s ship with a tadpole in your head, the distressed brain demands your assistance. While it may seem like a strange and unsettling situation, things are not always what they seem in this game.
If you choose to free the brain, it can actually become a valuable companion during the upcoming battles. However, be prepared to pass a series of skill checks to successfully release it. Keep in mind that the options available to you may vary depending on your character build.
Here are some of the options and questions you may encounter during the brain’s liberation process:
- Who am I talking to – a man or a brain?
- I think you’re past the point of saving. Tell me what to do.
- You sound afraid. Why?
- Leave.
In addition to these options, further choices may present themselves:
- [INVESTIGATION] Inspect the exposed brain.
- [STRENGTH] Break the skull.
- [DEXTERITY] Gently prise the brain from the skull.
- Destroy the brain.
- Leave.
Passing a skill check with at least a 10 will allow you to progress to the next phase and unlock new possibilities. For instance:
- [DEXTERITY] Mutilate the brain.
- Spare the creature – as any injuries might weaken it.
If you successfully pass the Dexterity check or choose to spare the creature, it will become friendly and join your party. However, be cautious in your choices, as attacking the brain in the following dialogues may alter the outcome.
Remember, having this Thrall in your party can be extremely beneficial. Choose wisely, and enjoy your Baldur’s Gate 3 journey!
With its newborn status, the companion may be more vulnerable to attacks, but it compensates with its impressive 21 HP. This makes it even sturdier than any spellcaster! Plus, its Claw attack is no joke, dealing a satisfying 4-10 damage. Talk about being a force to be reckoned with!
However, before rushing off into battle, remember that there are still plenty of other companions to discover and recruit. One such companion worth mentioning is Shadowheart.
