Baldur’s Gate 3: Unraveling the Mirror of Loss – A Min-Max Guide, Stats & Daphne Fama Insights

If you’re a fan of optimizing your character’s stats to the maximum, then you’ll love the Mirror of Loss in Baldur’s Gate 3. This powerful item allows you to get rid of useless stats and enhance the ones that truly benefit you. Let’s take a closer look at how the Mirror of Loss works in the game.

The Mirror of Loss can be found as early as Act 2, specifically in the Gauntlet of Sharr. However, you won’t be able to use it until Act 3. To find the Mirror of Loss, head to the House of Grief in Baldur’s Gate’s Lower City, part of Shadowheart’s questline. If you’re having trouble locating the House of Grief, don’t worry – there’s a detailed guide available. In short, it’s situated in the northwestern-most area of the Lower City map, right next to the Baldur’s Gate waypoint.

If you bring Shadowheart along, you’ll journey into the lower Sharran temple beneath the House of Grief. Here, you’ll need to defeat Sharran worshippers and their Mother Superior, Viconia DeVir. Once they’ve been dealt with, you can unlock and open the large round door at the back of the room, where the Mirror of Loss is located.

If you chose to kill Viconia, you can use the key looted from her to open the door. However, if you spared her, you’ll need to depress the offering plate in front of the door. The best way to achieve this is by weighing it down with a large amount of useless armor and weapons. The plate will depress in three stages, and once enough weight is applied, you’ll hear the unlocking sound, and the door will open. Alternatively, you can opt to use gold to weigh down the plate, but this method requires several thousand gold, and you won’t get your money back.

After opening the door, Shadowheart will face a difficult decision, and then you can approach the Mirror of Loss at the back of the room.

A Guide to Min-Maxing with the Mirror of Loss in Baldur’s Gate 3

The concept behind the Mirror of Loss is simple. This magical mirror allows you to sacrifice a “memory” (a stat of your choice) in exchange for a +2 boost to a selected stat. Sacrificing a memory will temporarily impose a -2 stat debuff, which can be removed through Remove Curse. However, the stat enhancement you gain from the mirror is permanent and will greatly benefit your character.

Exciting news for all gaming enthusiasts! If you’re looking to gain an advantage in the game, we’ve got some insider tips for you. In a popular game, there’s a fascinating quest that involves passing the challenging [RELIGION] check. But fear not, we’re here to guide you through it.

To conquer this check, you must offer a prayer to the mirror. However, be prepared for a demanding Intelligence or Religion roll with a difficulty of 25 or higher. It’s no walk in the park, even with guidance. But fret not, as we have a pro tip for you: save-scumming!

Save-scumming is a strategic practice that involves frequently saving your game before a risky or unpredictable situation. If the desired outcome doesn’t go as planned, you can simply reload your saved file and try again. While it may not be the intended gameplay style, save-scumming allows you to fully experience all that the game has to offer.

In this particular quest, failing the religion check will only grant you a -2 stat debuff, which is far from ideal. To avoid this, we highly recommend utilizing the save-scumming technique to secure the coveted +2 stat bonus. Trust us, it’ll make a significant difference in your gaming experience.

Stats to Sacrifice to the Mirror of Loss

[FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE] Part with the Forbidden Knowledge from the Thayan Tomb. +1 bonus to Wisdom Saving Throws and Ability Checks
Offer up memories of your strength – times when you triumphed, thanks to your raw power. -2 Strength
Give up memories of your youth, when your heart was carefree and your limbs were nimble. -2 Dexterity
Relinquish memories of fortitude and well-being, when body and mind held fast against all challenges. -2 Constitution

It’s important to note that the option to part with [FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE] only becomes available if you found and passed the skill checks associated with the Necromancy of Thay. This book can be found in the Blighted Village in Act 1. However, we advise against selecting this option since it cannot be reversed with a Remove Curse spell.

While [DECEPTION] may seem like a tempting choice, selecting it will result in neither the loss nor gain of any stats.

Once you’ve acquired the desired stat bonus, don’t forget to cast “Remove Curse” on the affected character. This will remove any negative effects caused by the mirror’s influence. Now, you can confidently approach the mirror with any character of your choosing.

So get ready to embark on this thrilling adventure! Utilize our tips, embrace save-scumming, and make the most of your gaming experience. May the stats be ever in your favor!

If you’re considering playing the game Shadowheart, you might want to think twice before investing your time and effort. Despite the difficulty of passing a skill check, which is made even more challenging if Shadowheart is aligned with Selune, you won’t receive any stat boost. Why? Well, it turns out that Shadowheart has no memories left to offer, leaving us frustrated with the time we wasted.

Now, let’s talk about another aspect of the game. If you’ve encountered Shadowheart’s parents in front of the Mirror of Loss, perhaps you’ve wondered about the consequences of allowing them to live or die. What outcomes can you expect from these choices?
