Exploring BG3 Murmath: A Guided Journey through Daphne Fama’s Universe

Choose Your Allies Wisely: Siding with Spider Lur Xanta in Baldur’s Gate 3

When faced with a spider, listening to its reasoning may not be your first instinct. However, in the case of Lur Xanta, the larger sister among a group of spiders, taking a moment to hear her out could potentially make your future battles a little easier. Whether or not you should side with Spider Lur Xanta in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a decision that requires careful consideration.

In a location near a cluster of executed drow, which are likely connected to the group you encountered in the Underdark, four spiders gather, engaged in animated conversation. These spiders, who have been nurtured by a nearby druegar dwarf, find themselves at a crossroads. They must choose between remaining loyal to their dwarven patriarch or venturing out to seek the embrace of Lolth, the Spider Queen.

The reason this decision is crucial is that if their master decides to confront you alongside Nere, you will also have to face off against these four spiders. Considering the recent battles fought in the Blighted Village and its infestation of Dark Amethyst, it’s understandable if you are weary of engaging in yet another spider-filled encounter.

Therefore, it is highly recommended to consider siding with Lur Xanta and persuade the spiders to align themselves with Lolth. By doing so, you can potentially avoid an unnecessary and challenging fight with these creatures. Your path in Baldur’s Gate 3 will undoubtedly be fraught with difficult decisions, and choosing your allies wisely is key to your success.

When you first encounter the spider brothers, you’ll have various dialogue options available, excluding the “attack” option. Any of the initial dialogue choices will present you with an opportunity to make a Charisma saving throw.

Choose either the Deception or Persuasion option, and roll a 10 or higher. If successful, the spider brothers will be convinced to join Lur Xanta in her pilgrimage to Lolth. However, if you fail the roll, they will attack Lur Xanta, resulting in her immediate demise.

Eliminating the spider threat by persuading them to join Lur Xanta accomplishes at least one task. Dealing with three spiders is generally easier compared to facing a single opponent.

Inquire about the spider brothers with Murmath, the dwarf who raised them, after your successful persuasion. Surprisingly, he won’t care about their fate and may even express satisfaction if the minotaurs get them. By the way, taking down Murmath without his spider companions is relatively simple.

If, however, you decide to confront the spiders directly, don’t fret. The battle won’t be too challenging. The spiders are only at level 1, having 14 HP each, and can be dispatched quickly.
