Stepping foot into the Temple of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3 is no easy feat, but fear not! We have the insider tips to help you navigate the treacherous path and unlock those foreboding doors at the heart of the Undercity Ruins cave. Prepare yourself for an epic adventure as we guide you on how to enter the elusive Temple of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3.
If you’re ready for an exciting adventure in BG3, the Temple of Bhaal awaits! Located in the Undercity Ruins, you’ll find the entrance in the sewers. Head north in the sewers, slightly towards the west of the City Sewers waypoint, and keep an eye out for a waypoint sigil on a rock wall and a chilling sight of a hanging corpse surrounded by a ring of blood. Nearby, you might encounter a mysterious vendor, quietly offering their goods.
If you haven’t yet explored the sewer system beneath the main city, don’t worry. You can easily reach this section by using one of the manholes around Bloombridge Park in BG3.
Unlocking the Temple of Bhaal in BG3
To access the true Temple of Bhaal, you’ll need the Amulet of Bhaal. Place the amulet on the door at the end of the Undercity Ruins path. However, obtaining the amulet requires completing the entire Open Hand Temple murder storyline.
Obtaining the Amulet of Bhaal
Your journey to acquire the Amulet of Bhaal begins with investigating a series of murders in Rivington at the Open Hand Temple. A murderer has been targeting victims and collecting their hands, all tied to the sinister cult of Bhaal. Eventually, you’ll reach Candulhallow’s Tombstone building, where a path leads to the Crypt of Bhaal.
Upon entering the crypt, make sure you have two of the Open Hand Murderer’s hands with you and proceed to Serevok Anchev. Serevok and his tribunal will want to judge you and potentially initiate you as an unholy assassin in service of Bhaal. You can choose to go along with their plans to easily obtain the Amulet of Bhaal, or you can opt to eliminate Serevok and claim the amulet for yourself.
Opening the First Door in the Temple of Bhaal (BG3)
To unlock the first door leading to the Temple of Bhaal, aim your ranged attack at the bodies hanging above the circular platform. Once you successfully hit them, the platform will be drenched in blood, and the doors to Bhaal will slowly open. However, this is just the beginning, and the real challenges lie ahead on this path.
Alternatively, you can approach the door and confess that you have either murdered the Murder Tribunal or were baptized as an unholy assassin (assuming you have accomplished these deeds). Although this option may seem less thrilling, it offers an alternative way to gain access to the temple.
Conquering Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev in BG3
Navigating through the challenges of Baldur’s Gate 3 can be both thrilling and daunting. When faced with the formidable Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev, it’s crucial to act swiftly and decisively in order to prevail. With his ritual nearing completion, time is of the essence, as he will unleash Bhaal’s Power Word Kill within seven turns, resulting in instant demise for your party. In addition to Farslayer, hordes of enemies lurk within the colossal room, determined to impede your progress towards the sacred Temple of Bhaal.
When it comes to battling enemies in a game, sometimes you don’t have to defeat every single one of them. You just need to focus on the most important target, like the Farslayer. In our strategy, we aimed to expose three archers by shooting an AOE arrow on the cliff to the right. Then, we had our entire party jump to that cliff, or in the case of Gale, fly over to it. By reaching the cliff, we were able to get close enough to attack the Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev.
Once we were within range, we unleashed all of our attacks and made use of any extra attack rolls available. It’s important to note that the first five hits on the Farslayer will have no effect due to his unstoppable barrier. Therefore, we saved our major attacks for after breaking the barrier.
With the barrier gone, we focused all our firepower on the Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev. He may try to teleport away, but we simply followed him to the top of the ruins and continued our ranged attacks. As soon as he succumbed, everything else in the area fell, and we were able to gain access to the Temple of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3.
After defeating the Farslayer, proceed through the metal door near where he was chanting. Descend several stairs, watch out for traps, and you’ll come across the Ancient Sigil Circle waypoint. Just past that, over a lengthy bridge, you’ll find the true door to the Temple of Bhaal. This is where you should use the Amulet of Bhaal, and be prepared for another fight as Orin awaits you inside.
Prior to embarking on the Temple of Bhaal in BG3, it’s worth carefully considering whether you want to align with Lord Gortash or Orin in Baldur’s Gate 3.
