Repairing the Lopez Communication Satellite: A Comprehensive Guide on Procedures and Aranae System Modifications

Repairing the Communications Satellite in Starfield: A Guide

The Settled Systems in Starfield are known for their perilous nature, with countless individuals seeking assistance in this vast galaxy. Among them is Alban Lopez, a humble farmer determined to safeguard his belongings from Spacers. If you’re eager to lend a hand, here’s a step-by-step guide on fixing the Lopez Communication Satellite and successfully completing the challenging mission called “Failure to Communicate.”

To embark on this mission, your first objective is to navigate to the Aranae system, conveniently located adjacent to the Olympus system on the Starmap. Once you arrive, you’ll encounter a distress beacon originating from the planet Aranae II. This triggers the mission and sets the stage for your visit to the Lopez Farm, where you’ll learn about Alban’s struggles with the Spacers, who have been deliberately sabotaging his secure satellites.

To remove the Spacers from the Aranae System and fix the satellite, follow these steps:

  1. Take your ship into orbit around the planet.
  2. Fly in the direction of the satellite, which will be surrounded by Spacers.
  3. Clear the area of Spacers by taking them out.
  4. Once the area is clear, head over to the satellite.
  5. If you’re playing on Xbox, press A when you are close enough to the satellite.
  6. You will then get the option to repair the satellite and talk to Lopez.

After repairing the initial satellite, Lopez will task you with fixing the satellites for the Wen, Lemaire, and Banda families. Follow these steps to complete the task:

  1. Fly to the locations in the system where the satellites for each family are located.
  2. Repair each satellite to begin the communications process.
  3. Be cautious, as some satellites may have Spacers guarding them.

Once you have connected all of the satellites, you will be instructed to go to Jackie Lemaire’s ship to discuss your payment and potential future employment. Here’s what you need to do at this stage:

  1. Head over to Jackie Lemaire’s ship.
  2. Engage in a discussion with the family about their plans.
  3. Lopez will rely on you to convince the other two remaining families to agree to a mutual defense pact.

When it comes to the mission “Failure to Communicate” in the game Starfield, rallying the Banda family is a relatively easy task. All you need to do is talk to Chanda, and he’ll agree to join the pact, albeit with a bit of hesitation. However, convincing the Lemaire family to join is a bit more challenging, and it’s actually optional for the mission. Success doesn’t require support from all the families.

To convince Jackie Lemaire to join, you’ll have the choice to either try to persuade her or pay her 2000 credits as compensation for Lopez’s past scams. Once both families are on board, you can venture into space to eliminate the Spacers occupying Aranae IV-B and Aranae IV-D. You can choose to do this with or without the support of the families in the pact.

After successfully removing the Spacer forces, return to Aranae II and speak with Lopez once again. The members of the defense pact will gather at Lopez’s farm and request your help in clearing out the Spacer Starstation orbiting Aranae III. This time, you’ll engage in combat both from your ship and on foot. Once the Starstation is cleared, you’ll receive your credits and a warm welcome to the system.
