Rosymorn Monastery Walkthrough: An Insider’s Guide to Location, Puzzle, and Ceremonial Weapons

Rosymorn Monastery in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a treasure trove of valuable items and quests. One of the sought-after items in this area is the Dawnmaster’s Crest, which can be obtained by successfully completing the Stained Glass puzzle. This puzzle requires careful observation and problem-solving skills to unlock the crest.

For those looking for even more powerful equipment, the legendary mace Blood of Lathander can be found within Rosymorn Monastery. However, acquiring it requires solving both the Statue and Passageway puzzles, adding an extra layer of challenge for adventurers.

Additionally, players can undertake the quest of Lady Esther by stealing a Githyanki Egg found in the monastery. Not only does this quest provide an exciting challenge, but it is also crucial for the companion quest of Lae’zel.

Location Details

Rosymorn Monastery is located in the Mountain Pass area of Baldur’s Gate 3. To reach the monastery, head towards the Trielta Crags waypoint, which serves as a reference point on the map. From there, follow the path towards the northeast until you come across a Cable Car.

To ride the Cable Car, you may need to pass a Strength check with a score of 15 or higher. Alternatively, if you fail the check, look out for a rough rock nearby that allows you to safely climb down from the cliff. It is advisable to have a strong party member for this section to ensure a smooth progression.

Once you descend the cliff, continue by jumping over a gap and following the path that leads you directly to Rosymorn Monastery. Please note that the monastery’s main door is locked, requiring entrance from a different route. Return to the location where you watched the Halflings cutscene and jump down into the trees from the broken railing at coordinates (X:55 Y:8).

From there, proceed in an anticlockwise direction, navigating through various jumps until you reach the knotted roots. Climb the roots to ascend further. As you move forward, take a right turn and find your way through the ruins until you reach the interior of Rosymorn Monastery at coordinates (X:94 Y:47).

Obtaining the Dawnmaster’s Crest

The Dawnmaster’s Crest is an essential item for quest completion. Its primary purpose is to acquire the highly sought-after Blood of Lathander. You can obtain this crest as a reward after successfully solving the engaging Stained-Glass Puzzles.

Although it may initially seem like a challenge, once you grasp the concept, the puzzles become much more manageable. Your objective is to locate and position the Ceremonial Warhammer, Longsword, Mace, and Battleaxe on their respective altars.

If you don’t have access to the specific weapons mentioned, don’t worry – a regular Warhammer, Mace, or Battleaxe will suffice. To successfully finish this quest, your first step is to enter the room with the captivating Stained-Glass window, located at coordinates X:73 Y:74. Inside this room, you will discover four altars, with the Longsword already placed upon one of them.

Obtaining the Ceremonial Battleaxe

If you’re looking to get your hands on the axe, you’ll need to follow these steps. Once you’ve made your way back from the stained-glass room, head towards your left. Here, you’ll come across an enchanting locked door (X:95 Y:47). To unlock it, a dexterity check of at least 15 is required.

Fortunately, I was playing as a Rogue, which allowed me to effortlessly bypass this obstacle. However, if you’re not playing as a Rogue, I recommend bringing Astarion along to handle the lockpicking.

Once you manage to open the door, you’ll face the formidable Guardian of Faith in the room. This divine protector is a force to be reckoned with. To effectively deal with the Guardian of Faith, make use of ranged attacks. It only pursues characters within the gold circle on the ground.

By keeping your party members outside of the circle and employing spells, arrows, or bombs, you can safely defeat the Guardian of Faith. After emerging victorious, clear the rubble blocking the door and claim your well-deserved Battleaxe, waiting for you on the floor.

Uncover the Adventure: My Experience With the Puzzle

Prepare to embark on an exhilarating quest as you navigate through the nooks and crannies of a mystical world. At one point in your journey, you will encounter a room with a Battleaxe beckoning your attention. But fear not, for I am here to guide you every step of the way.

The first task is to acquire the Battleaxe from the room. Once in possession of this mighty weapon, direct your attention to the left, where a web of knotted roots awaits your ascent. Climb these vines and ascend to the roof, but be warned – formidable foes lie in wait. You must face the Ancient and the Giant Eagle, vanquishing them in order to move forward.

Now, you have a choice: engage the eagles in combat or employ the art of Animal Handling. If you opt for the latter, you will need to perform a high-difficulty class roll of 18 or higher. Attempting to handle these creatures peacefully is advisable, as the battle that follows is not for the faint of heart. Once the eagles are defeated, your reward awaits near the Eagle’s Nest – the illustrious Warhammer.

The Ceremonial Mace

With the Warhammer in your possession, return to the Stained-Glass room. Exit through the broken window and take a leap into the depths of a massive hole, leading you to the lower floor. Unlock the oak door in front of you (coordinates: x:91, y:55). At the end of the room, your efforts will be rewarded with the discovery of the Rusty Mace (coordinates: x:89, y:32).

Placement

Your triumph doesn’t end here. The true challenge lies in placing all four weapons on their respective altars to complete the legendary puzzle. Each weapon must find its designated altar:

  • Battleaxe: Singular Non-Broken Window Altar
  • Warhammer: Double Broken Windows Altar
  • Rusty Mace: Singular Broken Window Altar
  • Longsword: Already Placed

As you diligently position each weapon, the altars will commence glowing, unveiling a hidden compartment within the Stained-Glass room. Behold the hidden treasure – a pouch containing the coveted Dawnmaster’s Crest.

Your perseverance and cunning will pay off handsomely. The completion of this intricate puzzle will bestow upon you a magnificent reward – the Morninglord’s Radiance buff. With this enchanting power, your weapon’s Radiant damage will be enhanced, paving the way for even grander adventures.

Relishing the Adventure

Indulging in this game for a whopping 20 hours was an exhilarating experience, and one aspect that truly captivated me was the unrivaled freedom it offered in problem-solving. Unlike other games that present only a couple of predetermined paths, this game cheered me on as I delved into unconventional methods.

While exploring the Rosymorn Monastery, I was constantly presented with opportunities to exercise my creativity and discover unique solutions to the puzzles. The plethora of spells and abilities at my disposal made the journey even more enjoyable. On a similar note, when confronted with the Blood of Lathander quest, the game did not explicitly warn me about the repercussions of taking the Mace without replacing it with the Dawnmaster’s Crest, resulting in the destruction of the Githyanki Creche.

As a die-hard gamer, my passion extends beyond just a single genre. I have spent countless hours honing my skills in competitive FPS games such as Counter-Strike and Valorant. When I’m not engrossed in the high-stakes world of multiplayer shooters, I find solace in the enthralling narratives of games like The Last of Us and the Batman Arkham series.

But here’s a fascinating twist – my love for entertainment doesn’t stop at games; I’m also an enthusiastic movie buff. Feel free to connect with me on Steam: Z3US or Riot: Z3US #1740.
