Exploring Weakened Constitution BG3: The Impact of Zaith’Isk and Its Safety

When it comes to removing the parasite in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are numerous options available. However, not all of them are equally effective or advisable. Lae’zel, one of the characters in the game, strongly believes in seeking help from her Githyanki people and their Creche to rid herself of the parasite. Your first opportunity to visit a Creche comes later in the game, where the Githyanki take you to the Zaith’isk. However, it may not be immediately clear whether this is the right choice for you.

What Happens When You Use the Zaith’Isk?

After a brief introduction, your party will be allowed to navigate their way to the infirmary. The Zaith’isk is located at the back of the room, but before you can use it, you’ll need to speak with Ghustil Stornugoss. As you approach the Zaith’isk to use it, Lae’zel will insist on going first. However, there is no significant difference in the outcome if Lae’zel goes first.

If you make the decision to allow Lae’zel to use the Zaith’Isk before you, be prepared for things to take a turn for the worse rather quickly. During an insight check, you may receive a warning that she will not emerge from this experience unharmed. It is crucial to pay attention to this hint as it signifies that it is not in your best interest for her to proceed with this course of action.

When playing the game, you’ll encounter a crucial moment where you have the opportunity to rescue a character. This can be done through a Persuasion check, but beware, it requires a high score of 30 or more. Trust me, you’ll want to give it your best shot. If you choose to let her stay, she’ll suffer from three permanent debuffs, weakening her Intelligence, Wisdom, and Constitution. However, regardless of your choice, the machine will ultimately explode, but don’t worry, neither Lae’zel nor your main character will take any damage from it.

Is the Zaith’Isk a Safe Option?

As you may have guessed, entrusting Lae’zel with the Zaith’Isk for the entire duration is definitely not a safe option. The risks outweigh the benefits, and it’s simply not worth it.

However, if you decide to take matters into your own hands and successfully pass all three saving throws, there is an upside. You’ll unlock the Awakened passive feature, granting you the ability to use all of your Illithid Powers as a bonus action.

Exploring the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of thrilling twists and turns, and the quest involving the Zaith’Isk is no exception. While the outcome always ends in an explosion, it’s what happens afterwards that truly matters.

If you possess the convincing skills of Performance or Deception, you have the opportunity to persuade Ghustil Stornugoss that the parasite has been eradicated. In this case, she will simply ask you to leave without any further action.

However, if you fail to convince her and she believes the parasite still exists, she will leave the area and lock the door behind her. This sets the stage for an intense battle against a group of Githyanki enemies. Be prepared, as this fight can be quite demanding and requires strategic planning.

Considering these factors, it might be wise to postpone obtaining the Zaith’Isk and instead return at a later time, or perhaps skip it altogether. While completion does offer a beneficial bonus, the subsequent battles may make it less worthwhile.
